Walnut Wall Hanging CabinetÂ
This Walnut floating shelf features 3 drawers with a ceruse finish. When the client asked if I could do a ceruse finish, I was skeptical that it would look good. The basic process is to rub white, or in this case, off-white paint, into the grain of the wood, making it stand out. I am still a fan of the natural walnut look, but I have to say the cruising really did pop the grain and make the features stand out. It is a stunning look.
If you want to find out more or see additional pictures of this project, you can do so on my website under Custom Foyer Wall Cabinet.
I’m still accepting commissions for mid-2019 if you would like to commision a piece of custom furniture or art. Just head over to my website for details.

This show is hosted by the Black Forest Art and Crafts Guild. A portion of the proceeds goes to a college scholarship fund, which is awarded annually to a local graduating high school senior.I will not have any furniture in this show, but it will feature my scrap wood projects. I gather all the scrap wood left over from my furniture projects and build cribbage boards, cutting boards, boxes, and whatever else I can think of. It has been a great way to clean up the shop, raise some money to fund other art projects and help send a young mind to college.

The Foyer Wall Cabinet is built from Walnut and a ceruse finish.
I’ve had many questions about my veneer bag system, so I made a little video out of it. If you want to build this jig, I do have plans on my blog.
I had the honor of designing and building the reception desk for the Hunter Wolff Gallery in Old Colorado City. Stop by and take a look at it, and all the other wonderful art in this Gallery. It is by far the nicest gallery in Southern Colorado.
I’m the owner of Benham Design Concepts, a mixed media art studio where I design and build custom furniture and other works of art using wood, glass, stone, and various metals.
In this blog, I talk about the art I create, my journey, and the things I learn along the way.
