After spending a bunch of time in the construction industry working around heavy machinery and power tools, it is a pretty safe bet I could be losing some of my hearing.
This got me thinking one day. It felt like I wasn’t hearing as well out of my left ear. This went on for several days, but I couldn’t tell for sure, so I just dismissed it.
Then a few weeks went by, and it became more noticeable, by the end of the month I was starting to get concerned and maybe I should see a doctor.
But then one morning, I headed out to the shop and popped my earbuds in the wrong ears and realized that my hearing was just fine, and it was the left earbud slowly dying over time.
I told my wife this story, and she laughed at me. We have been together for 20 years this December, and she tells me she’s glad I can still make her laugh after all these years.
Now, of course, 20 years ago, my jokes made her laugh, not my stupidity, but hey, I’ll take it, a laugh is a laugh.
This brings me to my point of this newsletter.
We are down to the last few days before Christmas, if you want to give your loved ones something that will last at least as long as my wife has been laughing at me, consider skipping the electronics section and buy art from a local artist.
I have a new collection of clocks that are just as much a clock as it is a framed piece of art. They are available now at the Hunter Wolff Gallery in Old Colorado City.
These Clocks are framed in a steel frame that has been patinated to turn is a modeled black. The backdrop is a flamed copper to create a rich range of colors, and the wood is highly figured spalted Silver Leaf Maple.
The Pendulum is offset from the main clock to add a bit of whimsy, and the numbers on the clock face have been laser engraved.
Contact the gallery for pricing and availability.
